I had a very close call with a V6 (3 litre) Omega I used to have. Set off from home one day and by the time I got to the end of the road there was a naff, hot rubber smell permeating the cabin, turned round, back home and called the AA. It was taken to a local garage where I'd bought it. Got a call from the mechanic who was the previous owner, the cambelt tensioner had disintegrated but thankfully no other damage done.
