The best thing to do if you have to take your car in for servicing, is to mark items that are going to be changed. Oil filters, metal ones, can just be marked with a sharp point, metal nail, somewhere on the side of the filter. If you see it is still there when it has been changed? You know it has not. Likewise with anything else that is going to be opened, taken off or replaced. Five minutes is all it takes. Then when you query them, they have not got a spanner to fit the excuse, not even an adjustable one. It is an old trading standard trap.
