Smile Rear Spring Compatibility - is it that critical?

Hello chaps,

I've had a search on the forum and can't find an answer to this question - apologies if it's been covered before!

I know that if I want to get the exact springs my car came with I can look at the colour code on the springs themselves or check under the rear seat.

Basically (as described in another thread) I need to replace my 2004 CDTi Tourer's rear springs. The latest magazine from Rimmer Brothers lists the saloon rear springs with a sizeable discount:

Rear Road Spring Diesel - White Rover 75/MG ZT - Saloon RKB101421

What's the difference between a tourer and saloon spring? - Can I use them instead?

Thanks as always

As a side note, the 75 has just done 1965 miles in the past 10 days, taking us from Cambridge to Scotland and back, and up as far as John o' Groats and Dunnet head - as far North as you can get on mainland Great Britain. It was a very pleasant drive, never skipped a beat and conveyed us all over in leather and wood luxury, a real bargain for a £1,200 catagory D write-off a couple of years ago. I even managed to achieve an indicated 61.4 MPG over a 100-ish mile journey. Magic!
