He tells me more so the older generation, that many of these customers would rather not own a car. They would rather hire a car for a few days to a week when they feel the need to go somewhere, first I was taken back, but then I thought how practical it was.
I suppose people lose interest in driving, myself included, I can see why some people choose not to own and run a car.

it used to be quite common in the seventies over here too. People would have hired cars instead of taxis if they were going out a fair distance from home. (I do it sometimes when on holiday, sometimes works out cheaper depending on where I am staying)
