I've always filled mine to the top of the fins mistakenly thinking that was the level and it never dropped to below that point . When I replaced my water pump earlier this month, two days later with the car loaded to the roof with camping gear, we headed to St Austell and it never dropped below the fins even 1500 miles later when we returned home.
