Glad that Planenut made it back ok. I have had 4 cars with K series engines from 1100 to 1800 cc and all of them have had HGF so I sympathise

Thanks John; latest update is that as I suspected
not HGF but EMG area. Wait for this...... I have never had the manifold off on this car, nor more to the point, checked the security of it. I found out of the five bolts/nuts/studs three were loose and one was missing - doh! Am purchasing new studs today and collecting new EMG which will be done this week. Will also take the opportunity to check the block studs for tightness.
