Who, or what, controls the imposition of selective arbitrary speed limits on the roads? Bees in bonnets are becoming more and more self important.

I suspect local gobby gauleiters have not got very much to do. If by any chance serious accidents or incident rates are shown to be a concern at a particular site, then there might be good reason for amendment.

If so, it should be published with local involvement as an essential precursor to give it weight and justification. This, with a majority of residents voting, should be required. That's democracy.

I once lived in a village where a local branch of a world wide charity had a 'Lodge'. In this complainers' coven a gathering of two people (on 'the committee') were a forum. What price democracy eh.
