The Symphony radio cum lowline navigation in my LHD V6 2.5 Connoisseur had a 4 digits code during 20 years that fortunately the previous owner gave me with the card as well.
Since last year I've inactivated it following the right procedure specified in the English handbook p. 180 & 181.
It tells: "To reduce the risk of theft, your audio unit was programmed with a four-digit security code before the car left the factory... Your car was supplied with a Security Information card..."
On one of my Rover 25 keyring, I was even given a tiny metal label attached within the keyring with the code engraved on it. And I'd got the radio code on the security card I was given with the genuine handbook when I bought my 214 cab, even it had no longer the OEM radio!
