Over the years I've been an 'advanced driver', a motor cycle trainer and examiner and, continually, an awestruck observer of blatantly bad driving manners.
Had one speeding (motor cycle) conviction (Plymouth - 1982). I was trying to catch and retrieve a wayward pupil who had taken a detour from the (pre-discussed) route. Caught up later with the other three guys in a pub car park on the Hoe. All laughing.
A speed limit warning sign means DO NOT.... etc. Obscure or not your local council has an obligation to ensure that all road signs are clearly seen but they are not liable. You probably know it's your own fault, and that is entirely the point - not necessarily to penalise but to educate - about awareness. Enjoy your driving, take your time and see more.
