Right then, colour me officially baffled.
I've just been back out to Kim. I removed the engine cover and looked with a torch at where yesterdays smoke was coming from.
The only wiring in that area are the cables that connect to the starter motor.
So I turned her on, and looked for smoke.
There was no smoke, the revs didn't suddenly increase like they did yesterday, and I kept her running, smoke free, for 5 minutes.
I checked the battery and it showed 14.5v, so the alternator is working.
I'm stumped.
Unless..... the last time I checked the wiring to the starter motor I put copper slip on the ring connectors to aid connectivity. Could it have been that that was burning off? Does burning copper slip smell like plastic?
Anyway, whatever the problem was it may have very well sorted itself out.
I'm still wanting to pass her on so she'll remain on members cars for sale section.
