Its hard, they are members of the family. We've lost two dogs in the last few years, thankfully neither had to involve the vet, both passed away in the comfort of their own home basically through old age. We now have two barmy Shih Tzus and a truly nut job Pug Tzu (Shih Tzu/pug cross).
