Nearly but not quite, it's deceleration (the latin root is
celero, which gives us celerate )
'negative acceleration' is grammatically an oxymoron
(so not correct to say)....
confusion might arise because acceleration could be described mathematically as
1 ft/s/s (one foot per second per second)
and deceleration as
-1 foot/s/s (minus one foot per second per second) - looks like 'negative acceleration' does it not?
n.b - I know the foot isn't the official ISO unit of distance - but I thought that the majority here would understand imperial measurements better than metric...
