I was on the M6 yesterday coming back from Stafford and as some of you may know all too well there is about 20 miles of roadworks just north of Stoke which is obviously all 50mph and almost entirely flat motorway. Traffic was flowing well and I got bored so I reset the IPK to see what happened....... I know, like I said I was bored
Anyway at 50mph with a freshly reset IPK it sat at around 52mpg for about 10 miles, when the roadworks finished I sat at 70 for another 10 miles and it dropped to around 46 - when I got bored of that and started keeping up with traffic a bit more it dropped to 42. Within 3 miles of leaving the motorway it had dropped to 37. My usual average at the moment shows as 33mpg.
So apparently you can get over 50mpg in an auto CDTi
- why you'd want to drive at 50mph on a motorway is another question entirely however!
