Locks on their own are no match for an angle grinder (thieves weapon of choice these days). Try mounting the lock in some kind of box section so that the only way to release it easily is with the key (ie just the lock opening exposed). It takes a bit of working out how to do but I used similar on a recovery truck toolbox and never lost anything after fitting it.
