I find chopping onions etc a pain in the butt! Doesn't really affect my eyes, just tedious! What I do is I have a mini blender, its about the size of a large mug. Very roughly chop an onion, garlic if required, throw them in the mini blender and blitz for a few seconds. Comes out in pieces no more than a couple of millimetres square.
