I'm 62, bought my (first) 75 - CDT at 61. I'd have bought one 3 years ago if I'd known the diesel was BMW. I first rode in a 1.8 club with an elderly gent over 12 years ago, and was impressed by its smooth quiet luxury. The 2 Audi A4s I had were good, if unlovable cars, and their seats nearly killed my back. The Rover covers my long motorway commute in total comfort, and gets admiring looks (when polished), and surprised looks from German car owners as I cruise past them (occasionally) in the outside lane. Because of their retro styling, leather, walnut and chrome (especially the Mk1s), if they are kept smart, people look at you more as a classic car owner than an old, old banger driver. Well, that's how I like to think of myself. Now, where did I put my Werther's?
