Sounds like loss of hydraulic fluid from a failed master or slave cylinder. If it's the master cylinder, you may not need a new clutch. If it's the slave, the clutch may be contaminated with fluid and require replacing. Both issues are very common and there is a lot of experience available from forum members. If the clutch has covered 200K+, it's probably best to replace it anyway.
