Ask the Rover garage if they have RAVE and whether they followed the recommended filling and bleeding procedure. This involves raising the expansion tank on the V6. If this procedure isn't followed, air locks can occur and your symptoms suggest that.

Or better still, do it yourself! The only tools you'll need are a couple of screwdrivers.
