We've been mates for, God almighty, nearly forty years! Met in the Air Cadets, knocked around on motorbikes together. Drifted apart a bit when he joined the RAF then ended up in Saudi, still doing aircraft maintenance but still tried to get together when he was back in the UK. I used to bump into his mother in town regularly. What happened to her is very similar to what happened to my father, hope tomorrow doesn't revive unwanted memories.
