I had a "Check Engine" message on the dashboard display.
Marinabrian suggested I check the (3 pole?) connector near the fuel filter and under-bonnet pump, just to the left and front of the battery box.
Sure enough it was starting to pull out by strain on the wire, attached to the front top edge of the battery box.
That was on a '53 diesel.
The man was spot on.
