When the engine has been allowed to cool over night remove the coolant cap and have a sniff for exhaust gases, believe me, if the hg has gone you'll smell it.

Yep the oil cooler bypass is on my list of things to try, however whilst i know what is involved I don't know the specifics like what do I use to connect the two pipes to create the bypass. Presumably its just a standard pipe from a plumbers but what is the size and spec?
