I know of plenty of front wheel drive cars that are pushing more than 220BHP.
I didn't realise these engines were so bad at getting past what is the allowed extra BHP.
Even the diesels you can't push too far because of the cast cranks.
Does make me wonder if a complete engine swap might be a better option with a different manufacturer.
