Just a quick update: Skifta on the phone is much better than the Denon app. The latter runs about 50% of the time, the former almost all the time (had one major hang and the volume is a but iffy, but other than that.....)
Tried the PC part but found that this is more for accessing stuff from your PC via your phone when you are not at home. So still looking for an alternative to iTunes. Thought I'd got it when I saw in the Denon instructions that WMP 12 allows output to network Players. As I have WMP 11, this seemed to be the answer. That was until I found that 12 is for Windows 7 and 8 only, with no backward compatibility for Vista!
So, now trying "Zune" which probably won't do what I want, but currently stymied as apparently "a required service is not running on this computer: Error Code 0x80070422"
