I think the danger of cars becoming generic 'white goods' is that the brand nonsense (particularly with German cars) will fade. Nothing wrong with a south Korean car, and I think people are starting to realise.

My dad had a brand new Daewoo in 1999, and it never let him down. Totally abused, but you couldn't fault it. The Vauxhall and VWs he has had since have been more bothersome.
