I always buy the elastomer type, never had any bother and that’s what I’ve fitted to my track r25. Isn’t troubled by slightly uneven liner heights or low liners and will seal less than perfect heads and decks from water and oil.
Countless people buy and successfully use the multilayer but buy from a reputable seller, I’ve had problems with them in the past.

If you’ve got the head off and are able to measure the liner heights if they’re all above 3 thou and are level you can use either. Less than 3 use an elastomer.
