My good lady is the cook/baker most of the time but we draw the line at breadmaking! We had a breadmaker years ago, when the kids were at home and I can't remember what happened to it. I seem to remember something going bang and not being able to find spares, so it must have lasted until it became obsolete! Stuff becomes obsolete overnight these days and I'm wondering if that may be the case with the Panasonics? In no rush, so will have a good look around and do some research. EDIT Argos have some in stock now!
