It’s a ceramic compound that bonds with the paint hence why the paint has to be scrupulously clean with absolutely no wax or silicone. It dries to an extremely hard ceramic coating that resists scratching and apparently nothing sticks to it. Gone are the days of beading when it rains as even rain won’t sit on it
