That is definitely the future for many harder to find components. I have a nodding Xmas reindeer which just needs a small plastic linkage to fix it. I searched everywhere to find the part, but could only find the software file to make it. Unfortunately I can't justify £2k+ to buy the printer. There is a huge market for young bloods who get into this now. Boeing just acquired a small Italian company who are printing turbine blades for jet engines. Amazing technology and it's here now for sure.
