One can forgive dealers for wanting to make a margin, after all they have overheads and are in the business to make a living. They even have legal commitments even on vehicles as old as this, under the Consumer Protection Act.
However there's making a margin and there's taking the p**s. If they've paid a silly buying in price then trying to find a mug to cover their error is unethical, but prevalent. If they are just boosting the margin because they think there are mugs about, then that's also unethical. Again ethics aren't a strong suit in the cheaper end of the motor trade.
Of course, in a self interested way, owners should welcome higher prices, but it has to be said that a few dealers currently trying to sell cars are way out of court.
