Boom! There is the answer! Of course........... XP = oldish computer?

The clock is not the clock on the screen, but the clock in the BIOS. Inside you case there is a flat lithium battery, somewhere on the motherboard, (possibly a cr2032) This stores the time of the motherboard(ie the system). The battery has failed, and resets the time each time you switch on your computer(back in time lol). When the certificates correspond to the system time, there is a disparity and hence your errors.

Open the case, (with it all switched off of course) and look for the battery. Check what type it is, then get a replacement. Idealy you should ground yourself to a radiator or something to reduce the risk of static electricity causing damage. I have forgotten to do this, the last dozen or so times I have vacuumed out my case - which you should do whilst it is open, it goes without saying, do this gently to prevent physical damage lol.

Start the computer again, and as it is starting, press the f8 button. (I press it repeatedly lol) This will take you to the BIOS screen, and from there it should give you basic instructions eg to move up and down, use pg up button, or pg down etc. Normally at the first page you see, will be the date and time. You will need to re enter these. Once that has been done, you will then need to save and close. Normally this is the f10 button. After this, the computer should reboot, and all should be well.

There will likely be youtube videos on doing this to give you a visual guide.

EDIT You may be able to test this theory by changing the system clock in the BIOS as described above, before you go to the trouble of opening the computer. I have never tried this, but I think it should work as a test to confirm.
