I'm rather late getting back, but thanks, Trikey, for a neat solution.
Following on from his earlier post, the end of the bolts are a slack fit in a 4mm socket. They appear to be a sort of 'inverted' and shallow Torx shape, with a 'slight' depression between each of ribs.
