Is there any risk to continuing to drive my car, (ie; overheating?) - The car runs well generally, returning good mpg.

I have also noticed the fan (3 speed) doesn't work on the demist test (will be replacing with a Revotec one from Jules in a few weeks - when got funds together!)

Would welcome some advice regarding thermostat etc and recommendations?

Cheers

Maurice, I don’t think you will have problems with overheating. In fact, you need a properly opening / closing thermostat to get up to proper operating temperature.
I presume it’s a diesel? In which case they should be 88deg.
Your options would be:
- replace them original thermostat
- install a 2nd thermostat (squeezed down the top hose)
- install a 2nd thermostat, in a bespoke housing, in the top hose.

To get the fan working on the demist test, you may just need to replace a silver resistor (if it has one) with a gold one, but Jules will keep you advised if your going down to see him.
