It’s always got to be a personal thing, of course, but I’ve had the Rover over 11 years now, and it would simply feel weird driving something else* – it’s MY CAR, in the same way that these Loake Burfords I’ve owned for 10 years are My Boots
I’ve spent nearly a Grand a year over the last four, but that included replacing most of the brakes and suspension, complete new exhaust, 2 new clutches etc. And it also includes tyres and servicing. I can’t see any significant rust anywhere (except the rear upper arms, which were clean rotten, and were replaced within that period).
200,000-odd miles done now, about 140,000 of which were by me. I keep saying when it packs in I’ll get a Leaf and a home charger, but what do I mean by “packing in”… it’s already packed in more than once (eg slave cylinder), and we’re still here!
*apart from the TF, of course. It’s only cost me about £800 (inc 4 tyres and servicing) over 3 years, and is lots of fun. Oh, and my girlfriend’s Aygo, which is a wee bit gutless going up hills, but otherwise is an absolute hoot, sticks to the road like an old Mini, doesn't use any petrol, and you can park it in very small spaces.
