As you say, the Freelander 1 TRL100060 plug is much better. Britcar shows a separate washer for it - TYF101060. Rimmers shows TRL100060 with a washer link (at least I think that's a washer).

That link you gave also shows the washer.

Personally I would always fit one. ( 65 years of doing up sump plugs and none have ever undone.----)
