Halfords alloy cleaner does a good job on the brown stuff left after cleaning dirty alloys, sometimes I use a little bit of scouring cream (like wot is found under the sink, alledgedly :-)).

I would love to change my crowns, I've worn out at leat one toothbrush now, but ebay always seems steep. Also, new rubber at the same time is off putting...
