Bad news guys,
We lost our house today and the farm through a wild wind fire on Somerset West. The mountain is burning and it was so quick. All we had time for was to grab our clothes and passports. My fone Willie was left in the house. A strong SSE wind wiped everything out - the fire started at 9 a.m in the Helderberg Nature Reserve. Ours was the first to go being high up on the mountain. The fire swept through the valley and has taken 14 houses as well as the nature reserve. It took 3 hours for the planes and helicopters to spray and bomb our house. Too late sadly..despite fire engines attending from 09.50. At least we are safe. Friends are putting us up for the night. Phil
