If you look into your expansion tank when it's empty, you'll see a tab marked 'MAX'. It's towards the bottom of the tank and there's a 'MIN' marker as well. Maintain your coolant level between these.
As
T-Cut warns, overfilling risks coolant ejection and you'll then be posting that you think your head gasket has gone!
