I have seen what you have seen and I am fairly certain that the mods would also have seen the same. It is difficult for them to keep a balance of fair play in allowing these posters to be back biting and stabbing at each other. If they close a thread down, they receive criticism for doing so and for not permitting freedom of speech and transparency.
A couple of years ago, our lord and master aka Stu created this thread during a similar period, so that we could get away from the trolls ... Nice one Stu
It will be a brave step to take these trolls out again. The greens will be up to the task for when it is needed. We are all here to help each other. Those who are not, stab and bite for the sake of scoring points, deserve to be kicked out. What a mockery they make when they hide behind the rights of free speech. This might be a bit deep for them to understand.
