Big Shout Out To Rick-sta with his IPK De-lining
So today I took a trip up to
Rick-sta
in Essex to have two of my highline instrument packs de-lined within the message centre. You may have seen his post regarding sourcing brand new and improved design screens for the IPKs which eliminate the horrible lines that eventually blight our cars.
I removed the instrument pack from my ZTT 190 and drove the 75 to him, before taking that one out too, and within the space of an hour and a cup of socially distanced coffee, he had worked his magic.
Both of mine had been getting steadily worse over time and the very hot summer this year took it's toll on them as the heat built up in a locked up car standing in the baking sun eventually starts to lift the stuck down (not soldered) connections of the ribbon cable that connects these LCD screens to the processor in the IPK.
The new screens are designed to be soldered on, not stuck thus preventing the problem from arising again in the future I'm told.
Anyway, here are some before and after pictures from both cars, and apologies the camera on my phone doesn't do them justice:
MG ZT-T
this had 17 faulty display lines on it
Rover 75
this had 20 faulty display lines
For anyone considering having this done, here is Rick's original thread
GOOD NEWS! Brand new IPK LCD now available with new improved design!
