I think I read on here somewhere that the matrix was taken off and filled with a strong flushing solution. Left over night and was then able to be flushed clear the next day.

Not too hard to get the matrix out. Putting it back in was a tad more difficult lining up the pipes.---Some have even cut the ends off both pipes and fitted a short hose with two jubilee clips. Successfully.---
