I can’t remember what it was, but I remember seeing a programme where they wanted a wheel, and they went to a company that 3D scanned them.
They said they’re were cataloguing all the wheels, so there were 3D files of them. The scanner had something like 16 lasers in it and cost around £250,000. They’d scan the wheel, 3D print a sample, then use the 3D printed sample to make a mould and then cast it. Or use the file to CNC cut it out of a block.
