I suspect its a "get worse before it gets better"! Sitting is fine but on my feet for more than a few minutes a sharp pain appears in the left hip then develops and is accompanied by pain running right from the lower back down the length of the leg. Think when I jarred my back I've tweaked the sciatic nerve.
