Ok, so I think I have a plan of action.

Terry has referred me to EC Engines of Brierley Hill, who have quoted me £425 all in for a complete top end rebuild (which includes a replacement HG) and recovery from my address.

That's £800 cheaper than what Summit quoted me for.
