A neighbour has discovered a sinking patio. The excavation reveals broken drain pipe. Not too much of a surprise considering that whoever put them in used house bricks, tiles and just about anything else they could find except pea gravel/sand/something else suitable to sit the clay pipes on.
Homeserve insurance - we'll look after all you supply and drainage - came out, lifted one manhole, said it's shared (with the other neighbour, run off from their garage roof only) so it's not covered and went away. The fact that the run-off pipe joins after the collapse apparently doesn't matter
