Thanks Kaiser - you know how it is where people post questions regarding problems and by the end of the thread you're none-the-wiser as what the real problem was! I do try to close the loop in these cases - but am embarrassed that it has taken me this long!!!

Hmm, thanks okenora - I have been thinking about this, and you may well be right, but the clunks other people report seem to be much more evident than is present on my car? One of the difficulties interpreting the written word on a forum I suppose, and perhaps mine is in the early phase?
Is there any other way I can test for a worn strut bearing before biting the bullet, buying the parts and the spring compressors required for their replacement?
