Nothing was hanging lower than normal and no obvious problems!!!

So I slowly crept forwards to hear the most horrible of grinding noises... Put into reverse no noise..

OK time to get out and walk about to see if anything jumped out as broken.. nothing...

OK next option ( allow wife to drive car ) aghhhhh... ( she owns a SUZUKI )
so she pulled forwards again horrible expensive sounds..

Reverse into small parking bay just up street jack car up and check..
horrible sound still there when rotating wheel forwards.. ( time to take drum off ) Yes Im the sad person with full toolkit in boot..

After removal of drum found the rear brake shoe retaining pin has pulled through rust hole in back plate.. So cleaned it all up tried to tap metal back into shape enough to put pin in to get home.. NO.. it just made hole bigger.. Good old cable tie through shoe out of back plate and around caliper bracket so I can drive home..

All good so I thought.... Nice and quiet and all seems OK UNTIL... I went on rimmer Bros.. No back plates in stock until 17th July... AAARRRGGGHHHH..

So next job trying to find new back plate and see what else occurs during the replacement process... Will update soon....
use retaining cups and pins for Ford fiesta/ sierra instead, keep the back plate. (the old fashioned way )

pin goes in from the back, through the shoe, spring then held in place by the cup

there is a post about it somewhere on the forum. I will post the links for the ones I fitted wwhen I get home. 6 pounds to do both sides and a spare set left over
