Over here in Canada we don't have Araldite but I have used JB Weld for decades. I have used it to plug holes in engine blocks, and to repair a broken mounting boss for a thermostat on an old Chevy straight six. We then drilled and threaded the JBWeld to fit a mounting stud...it held. They also make a product called Water Weld which I used to plug a leaking TR7 fuel tank.
It works well for me.
I am a locksmith in my day job. We once had someone fill all of the ASSA lock cylinders on a school with JB. We found them after it had cured for the weekend and had to scrap all of the cylinders as there was no way the JB was coming out! That cost thousands.
