I have 2 Volvo S60 MK1 facelifts with DPF's and they've less soot in them than when I got them and have never gone through a regen cycle.
If all you do is potter around town on short journeys then any diesel with a DPF will clog up, petrols in those circumstances are a better solution.
Must say the Volvo S60's have both been extremely reliable, they're better equipped than a Connie SE, more comfortable, more economic despite being 2.4l ,all parts are available and reasonably priced
