I did an experiment a while ago with one of these pumps, once it had finished removing all the oil it could I them jacked the car up and removed the drain plug, I was expecting a bit of oil but at least another litre came out so that convinced me I would never use one.

When you do an oil change there is always going to be some residue inside the engine but leaving 1 litre or more in there is not a good idea in my view.
