WD40 is NOT a lubricant!, but a water repellent (dispersent =D) spaying it into the switch will have the effect of creating a gunk and make things worse, so you need to remove , dismantle clean everything with isopropyl alcohol. allow to dry, spray with a quality electrical contact cleaner sparingly, wipe excess off with lint-free cloth and re-assemble.
